I would but the monthly mix seems to be a confusing mess, why don't you put more effort into letting peeps know about the person behind the mix and maybe giving the mixer more notice so the mixes will be on time and higher quality. If the monthly mix is promoted right it would be worth the effort of putting together a cracker. But its a good concept none the less, thats my bitfooishbar wrote:remember, if you want to mix, just shout out in this thread, and maybe you'll win the lotto.
we're trying to make it less of a confusing mess. it's all been last-minute business for a while (i've been really shit), but we've already got the july and august mixes sorted out. will try to sort out some proper texts and shit.enigneyratorelknaw wrote:I would but the monthly mix seems to be a confusing mess, why don't you put more effort into letting peeps know about the person behind the mix and maybe giving the mixer more notice so the mixes will be on time and higher quality. but yeah, the july mixer had a bit over a month's notice, and august's had two months. september will have two months as well. and everyone after sept. system & i are also sorting proper hosting for the mixes so there'll be no more rehosts, no more sendspace, but a permanent url and archive for all of them. already you can see in the mixes forum that all the mixes posted so far have been collated into one thread, and soon enough all the old ones will also be permanently available for download.

Re: Melbourne Beats Mixathon :: Sign up!
however long you feel like (preferably hourish), and you (usually) get 2 months from when we contact you to when it's posted.

Re: Melbourne Beats Mixathon :: Sign up!
I'm up for this. Can I offer myself, a mix and any other bodily fluids you'd like to extract?
Also I would recommend http://www.soundcloud.com for the free hosting and mix downloading capabilities. Dont think it has any limits on bandwidth or number of things you can upload, but I may be wrong.
Whats wrong with Sendspace?
Hosting mixes over over 100MB getting lots of downloads is surely quite expensive?
My last mix used up all my bandwidth in 2 weeks with over 1000 downloads, and it starts getting pricey to buy more. My 2 cents innit

Re: Melbourne Beats Mixathon :: Sign up!
there's no issues with the current hosting as far as bandwidth usage goes. having a permanent archive is a good thing - something that sendspace et al don't offer.

See thread above NakedAge.
NO rules or regulations. Originally we had a list of names and we randomly choose one each month to do a mix. Over the years our commitment to consistency has varied. People generally host their own mixes and then just share the link. THere is an archive of the threads for each months link in the thread above. suspect most are dead. (when I see we I mean other people and we all say we do this, we do that )
But please feel free to make mixes and post them at any time, does not need to be part of this. That is what most people do.

actually, they're all hosted on mixes.melbournebeats.com now, and all the links still work. i'm still missing a couple of mixes (i think guyno's and one other), but the rest have tracklists and working links. if you've got one that i'm missing, please let me know and i'll get it up there.DBoy wrote:NO rules or regulations.
