Hip hop... bitches
What hiphop-rap you feeling right now? I'm well into at the mo, really diggin all the Def Jux stuff (Cage, Can Ox, Mr Lif), Sole/Anticon, Handsome Boy Modelling School, loads of stuff.
What you digging? My finger aint on the pulse, what's new and rad?

i'm behind the times in hip-hop. loving dizzee, hbms, tzu, hilltops, bias b, lyrical commission, muphin, the herd, et al. there's not that much non-aussie hip-hop I listen to, aside form dizzee and hbms, it's basically just xzibit and some of the quannum/solesides stuff (mainly lateef).

different strokes, I guess. what've you tried so far, and is there any particular style you feel more than others?Hardy wrote:I still can't get into Aussie Hip Hop. Yet to hear anything that grabs me.

Love gritty, darker NY sounds, but i'm not fussed... as long as the beats are rad and the flows are tight.fooishbar wrote:different strokes, I guess. what've you tried so far, and is there any particular style you feel more than others?Hardy wrote:I still can't get into Aussie Hip Hop. Aussie hip hop rules! The new HH album is dope. The last BlissNEso was nice, too. Anything from Plutonic Lab is quality. To tell you the truth, other than Kanye, I haven't really been feeling too much US hip hop as of late and I wouldn't even classify Kanye as hip hop. Always love the Lyrics Born stuff, but still waiting for the man to drops something new unless I missed something. It doesn't help that I'm stuck in a 1988-1994 time warp...
If its gonna be the surprise innovative type, check some Swedish Styles!!
Groups like Up Hygh and Producer Freddie Kruger out on the jugglin label are busting some phat fresh beats and the label is also responsible (is not) for G.A.M.M records!!

This is gonna sound really wanky, but there are a couple of GAMM record bootlegs on my mix I just posted in the mix section,If you wanna check it, there is no actual Jugglin Stuff on that mix. But there are 2 Freddie Kruger Tunes on my earlier mix I posted as well. Easily done

Trill! All about getting hyphy at the moment.
Boys got me on the Southern tip,
BunB
Julz Santana
Lil' Wayne
I think you will find that DJ Shadow has some of this sound on his new album too, SF has apparently been on this sound for a while.
Been going to the Fravela Rock Parties at Loop last couple of months.
THey are getting bigger and bigger here.

Re: Hip hop... bitches
on the Def Jux and Handsome Boys.
Aside from that, I'm mainly into the ninjatune/big dada stuff like Ty, Gamma, New Flesh, Vadim and Herbaliser. I keep coming back to it.
And on the poetry tip: Saul Williams.
